Sergeant Major Waller was born on July 5th 1985 in Longview, Texas. He entered into the Marine Corps delayed entry program in May 2005 and attended recruit training in June 2005 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA (2nd Battalion). He was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class (PFC) in September of 2005.
Following completion of recruit training and subsequently Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA, PFC Waller attended field radio operator course at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms, CA. Upon completion of field radio operator course, from February 2006 to May 2009, PFC Waller was assigned to Bravo Battery 1st Battalion 12th Marines, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe, HI. While serving with Bravo Battery he was assigned as a vehicle commander and squad leader on deployments in 2007 and 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in May 2006, Corporal in May 2007, and Sergeant in January 2009.
In May 2009, Sergeant Waller attended basic recruiter course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA. Upon graduating basic recruiter course, he was assigned to 8th Marine Corps District, Recruiting Station Dallas, TX where he served as the assistant non-commissioned officer in charge at Recruiting Sub-Station Bryant, AR. Sergeant Waller was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in July 2011.
Upon completion of recruiting duty, in August 2012 Staff Sergeant Waller was assigned to the 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) at Camp Lejeune, NC. While serving with the 22D MEU he was assigned as the communications chief and platoon sergeant on deployments to the Persian Gulf and AFRICOM area of operations. While deployed with the 22D MEU, the unit established Special Purpose MAGTF Crisis Response located in Moron, Spain.
In April 2015, Staff Sergeant Waller received orders to 3d Battalion, 14th Marines Inspector Instructor staff Chattanooga, TN where he served as the communications chief, maintenance chief, electronic key management systems manager, and security manager for Mike Battery. While serving with Mike Battery, Staff Sergeant Waller led Marines in the following annual training exercises: (1) Saipan Rain at Camp Lejeune, NC in 2015, (2) integrated training exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at 29 Palms, CA in 2016, and (3) Sabre Strike at Ventspils, Latvia in 2017. Staff Sergeant Waller was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in July 2017.
In August 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Waller received orders to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG). After completing Marine Security Guard detachment commander course at Quantico, VA, Gunnery Sergeant Waller was assigned to Region 4, US embassy London, United Kingdom where he served as a detachment commander from December 2018 to August 2020. While assigned as the detachment commander at US embassy London, he received recognition for being selected as the 2020 MCESG Region 4, detachment commander of the year and was subsequently recognized as the MCESG runner-up detachment commander of the year. In August 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Waller arrived in Quantico, VA where he served at the Marine Security Guard training center as an instructor advisor.
In September 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Waller was promoted to First Sergeant and subsequently received orders to Training and Education Command (TECOM), Headquarters Battalion where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Combat Development & Systems Company.
In July of 2023, First Sergeant Waller reported for duty at 3d Littoral Combat Team, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he served as the Company B First Sergeant. While serving with Company B, First Sergeant Waller led Marines in the following training exercises: (1) Force Design Integrated Training Exercise at Kahuku training area, (2) Defense Exercise at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, and (3) Bougainville III at Pohakuloa Training Area.
First Sergeant Waller was selected for Sergeant Major in November of 2023, was promoted in February of 2024, and executed orders to the 3d Littoral Logistics Battalion in March of 2024 where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Waller's personal awards include; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from American Military University, Master of Science in Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Masters level certificate in Human Capital Leadership from American Public University. He and his wife Meagan have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Laiken and Legacy.
