Sergeant Major Lance G. Waller
Sergeant Major Waller assumed his current post as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader at 3d Littoral Combat Team on April 4, 2025. A native of Longview, Texas, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June of 2005. In September of 2005, he graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California, and reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California, shortly after. He was assigned as a radio operator after completing training at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, California. Sergeant Major Waller was promoted to Private First Class (meritoriously) in September 2005.
In February 2006, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to 1st Battalion 12th Marines, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH). He was assigned as a vehicle commander and squad leader on deployments in 2007 and 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sergeant Major Waller was promoted to Lance Corporal in May 2006, Corporal in May 2007, and Sergeant in January 2009.
In May 2009, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to recruiting school at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon graduating, he was assigned to Recruiting Station Dallas, Texas, 8th Marine Corps District, where he served as the assistant staff non-commissioned officer in charge at Recruiting Sub-Station Bryant, Arkansas. Sergeant Major Waller was promoted to Staff Sergeant (meritoriously) in July 2011.
In August 2012, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to the 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While serving with the 22D MEU, he was assigned as a communications chief and platoon sergeant on deployments to CENTCOM and AFRICOM . While assigned to the 22D MEU, the unit established Special Purpose MAGTF Crisis Response located in Moron, Spain.
In July 2015, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to 3d Battalion, 14th Marines Inspector-Instructor staff Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he served as the communications chief, maintenance chief, electronic key management systems manager, and security manager for M Battery.
In August 2018, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG). After completing detachment commander course at Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to Region 4, United States embassy London, United Kingdom, where he served as the detachment commander from December 2018 to August 2020. While assigned as detachment commander in London, he received recognition for being selected as the 2020 MCESG Region 4, detachment commander of the year and was subsequently recognized as the MCESG runner-up detachment commander of the year. In August 2020, Sergeant Major Waller returned to Quantico, Virginia where he served at the Marine Security Guard training center as an instructor advisor.
In September 2021, Sergeant Major Waller was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to Training and Education Command (TECOM), Headquarters Battalion, Quantico, Virginia, where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Combat Development & Systems Company.
In July of 2023, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to 3d Littoral Combat Team, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, at MCBH where he served as the Company B First Sergeant.
In February 2024, Sergeant Major Waller was promoted to Sergeant Major and executed orders to 3d Littoral Logistics Battalion, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment. In April of 2025, Sergeant Major Waller received orders to the 3d Littoral Combat Team, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment.
Sergeant Major Waller's personal awards include; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from American Military University, Master of Science in Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Masters level certificate in Human Capital Leadership from American Public University. He and his wife Meagan have been married for 15 years and have two daughters, Laiken and Legacy.
